The Home and School Association (similar to a PTA or PTO in a public school) is made up of all the parents of Assumption School. Our function is to support the school, its mission and purpose with our energy, enthusiasm, and time—all to help make our children’s school experience as vital and rewarding as possible. Involved parents, foster involved students. The Home and School Association presents one avenue for parents to get involved in the education of their children and to form a partnership between school and home.Specifically, the Home and School Association is responsible for helping the school meet it’s overall operating budget. Each year, the Association is given a fund raising goal and various fundraisers are planned to help meet budget and ensure that the material needs of the school are met. We have tried very hard to also make fund raising “fun raising” at Assumption. Our events try to involve as many parents as possible, and represent a great way for parents and children to socialize and get to know each other. We also are called upon to run certain special events that have become long-standing traditions with the children that they (and parents) look forward to all year long. These extra-curricular activities help the Home and School Association build school spirit and foster a sense of community within our school—two very important goals of the Association. The Home and School Association holds monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm in the Library. These meetings are open to everyone at the school. Click here for the meeting agenda. We hope to see you at the meetings! You will find a few of our many special events run by the HSA listed on this page. The Home and School Association Executive Board is the smaller planning group for the entire Association. We have monthly meetings and encourage all parents to attend or get involved in any way that they can. We look forward to another great year for Assumption School, its students, and our families!

A full day filled with sack races, tug-of-war, three-legged races, spoon races, basketball dribbling, balloon toss, and other non-competitive events that foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun. We even have field day when it rains, with a full schedule of alternative inside events and fun. Don’t forget the hot dog lunch!!!! |
As an alternative to emphasizing All Hallows Eve—Halloween-- (with its sometimes goulash and scary themes) Assumption instead celebrates All Saints Day with a parade of the Communion of Saints and a pizza party for the children. Each child is asked to pick and research a saint, come to school dressed as that saint, and join in a parade around the school, after enjoying a fun pizza lunch. This event help reinforces the children’s religion lessons as they study the Saints in the weeks before All Saint’s Day. Oh—and don’t forget a little goody bag of candy before they go home!!! |

Each year, Assumption students participate in the annual roller skating party at Ron-A-Roll in Vernon. This is joint event with the other Manchester Catholic Schools and gives the children an opportunity to develop friendships and build memories. It also helps to break the cabin fever that tends to set in during this part of the winter. |

Do you have any hidden (or not so hidden), talents? This is your time to shine under the spotlight, while you sing, dance, and twirl with your child in our Annual Talent Show. Our Principal, Mother Mary Mark even performed a spectacular musical singing solo last year. What awaits us this year?? Come join your child and have some fun at the talent show. When it comes to school, wouldn’t it be nice to have more in common with your child than just helping with homework? |
Each year the annual auction is held which auctions off donated goods and services to the highest bidder. The event takes place at a local area restaurant and is as much social (while hors d'oeuvres are being consumed) as anything else. This is a major fund-raiser for the school and has always been a great success. |
